"The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Arcadia: Live Auction

Return to Live Auction Overview

Richard Bassett

This cabin is the smallest of the six Lincoln Log cabins (each an edition of three) in the series titled, The Burden of Myth and Memory. It was machined in cold rolled steel and has a gun metal finish which is expressive of the harsh reality that lies behind our all too often cozy and romanticized American historical narrative.

The cabin series is a complement to another body of work (small tents based on images from the American Civil War) which also explores the illusory nature of nostalgia.

Each cabin comes with a set of step by step assembly instructions.

As for trees, they are one of the sublime pleasures of life. Hurrah for the Friends of the Urban Forest!
